The medical billing system is fubar
Yes, I’m using a dirty acronym and yes, the ”F” stands for one of my least favorite words on the planet, but oh. my. goodness. I think someone bombed all the medical billing departments of the world and instead of cleaning up the mess they just shoved it all in a pile and called it good.
I have been trying to resolve some billing issues between Luke’s doctor and my health insurance company for claims from July and August of 2007. Almost a year ago, people. We’re not even on the same group policy as we were then, which only serves to complicate the matter. The billing department for Luke’s doctor is only open from 9 am-4 pm. And I can’t call them on my lunch break because they are also closed between 12 and 1. When I do get the chance to call, half the time I get a busy signal. Each time I’ve been able to get through they tell me I owe money and if I think it’s a mistake I need to take it up with my insurance company. Which I do, and they tell me I owe nothing
