Take Your Kid To Work Day
My mom and stepdad run a website for the Mid-American Conference called MAC Report Online. It’s college sports. They do news coverage for all the schools in the conference and often attend the games. It’s kind of a big deal (if you’re into sports, which I’m not, but I can appreciate those who are). My stepdad, Dave, had press passes for the Michigan State vs. Eastern Michigan football game today. My mom would normally go with him but she was working at the Western Michigan vs. Northern Illinois game, so Dave invited Mike to go along with him. Mike answered with an emphatic, “Hell to the yes” because of course he loves football and he loves Michigan State University. Oh and he gets along real well with Dave too.
So today was Bring Your Kid To Work Day! Mike had a blast. He got to go down on the field and take pictures. It was kinda funny because he was down there with his press pass and he’s taking pictures with a regular old snapshot camera, but he had a lot of fun and the pictures didn’t turn out so bad. Hopefully Dave can use them for the website. He had a good time hangin’ in the press box too. He got to talk football with other guys who know football, and that is always fun for a Football Guy. They were calling the plays like the experts do. Good times.
Here he is just after arriving home. He wasn’t wearing the press pass so I made him put it back on… he was happy to comply. Can you see that giddy glow in his face?
I’m glad he had a good day, and I hope Dave takes him up on the offer to help at more games. Maybe his next career will be in sports. He says photography but I think he would make a great announcer. When we watch baseball games he’s always saying stuff that 3 seconds after he says it, the announcers say, just in a different way. Yup. He could be the next Rod Allen or Mario Impemba!

Dave had a good time too. If we could figure out how to get the radio program up and running for a minimal cost, Mike could be “on air” with Dave. But Mike would have to get a passion for the MAC. Can he do that and still have allegiance to the Spartans?
