The Big Guns
When I told the nurse who called to follow up after my hospital stay what antibiotics they have me on, she said “Ooh, they brought out the big guns!” And apparently she was right. I’m taking 600 mg of Clindamycin 3 times a day and I’m pretty sure it’s killing me slowly. Ironic, because they gave it to me to save me from the bacterial infection they drained from my belly. Now I’m having a different sort of abdominal pain. Gas pains, bloating, diarrhea, heartburn, painful swallowing. I sound like a pepto commercial. It’s kind of driving me crazy, but I’m going to stick it out for the remaining eight days because I know it’s important. The pain that this antibiotic is causing me is a walk in the park compared to the pain I was in last Wednesday. There’s no way I’m going back to that.

Some of that is probably from the surgery and recovery too…because they sound like all of the symptoms I have had too. With the exception of painful swallowing. Monday is my 3 week mark and things are finally starting to work itself out. So hopefully by the time you are done with your antibiotics your body will be recovering from the surgery and from the antibiotics all at the same time
Good luck! All that stuff is for the birds!!

You should get on a probiotic to build your natural flora back up. It would help ease and eventually eliminate your gas, bloating and diarrhea and it could prevent a lot of things too. Antibiotics are wonderful…the problem is that they kill off all of your flora…so it leaves you prone to yeast infections and other yucky stuff. A probiotic will build all your good, gut flora back up. You can get pill forms of it at better health or foods for living. And you can also eat kiefer and plain yogurt. Just a suggestion.
