When I’m home I pretty much crash so I have been neglecting to blog. But today I was at my nephew’s 2nd birthday party and when I came home my sister had already posted the pictures. There were some good pictures but the link she sent also gave me access to her photo album from her wedding five and a half years ago. I had a good time reminiscing through the photos and I had an especially good laugh when I came to one picture in particular. Bloggers, I give you “The Hug”:

The element of surprise is a big help, but it still gets a laugh every single time.

You know they say, “sleep when the baby sleeps.” I have a hard time with that because I am not a great napper. I just have a hard time falling asleep when I’m trying to fall asleep. Maybe I try too hard. Now, Mike is the champ. If there was a contest, he would win first place. I would be dead last, I’m afraid. Even when I’m super tired (which I’ve been much of the time lately) I still have trouble. Maybe I ought to take up drinking.

Ha!

1) I learned a lot about World War II last week thanks to the History channel. Left me with a lot of food for thought.

2) I read a book! All the way through! It was a fantastic book, an autobiography by Teri Garr, an amazing funny woman who helps people laugh at MS. After reading the book, I totally have to meet her.

3) We went to a wedding in Chicago last night. With a two week old newborn. Crazy, maybe, but it went great and she stole the show for sure.

4) Thanksgiving is coming! Hooray! Again, we’ll be hosting dinner and that means we don’t have to travel and we get to keep lots of leftovers

It’s a blanket with arms, people. I know that sounds silly but the first time I saw that commercial, I just knew I had to have one. I wished and I prayed and I pined for the Snuggie, and then you know what happened? I got one! My sweet sweet husband bought one for me. But since he was buying it with our money, he made sure to get a deal. For a mere $8, I am the proud owner of a Cuddlee. It’s a knock-off of the Snuggie and it didn’t come in leopard print but it still does the trick.

This thing really is better than just putting on a robe backwards. A robe just doesn’t have the coverage to really keep the warmth in. The Snuggie (Cuddlee) has plenty of room to keep my arms and neck warm, and extends all the way to my feet. AND I can still hold and feed the baby because Hello! My arms aren’t trapped inside!

It’s the little things in life…

The big deal in my life right now is multiple sclerosis and early maternity leave, and that’s just a drag to go on about. So I’ll try not to.

Instead, I’ll tell you about my exciting morning of grocery shopping! Since my legs are failing me due to the MS and I’m super pregnant, I haven’t been moving around so swiftly. In fact, if you add in the compromised sense of balance, walking is kind of dangerous. I’ve sworn off driving for awhile. But I cannot bear to be stuck here in the house ALL day, so my husband is kind enough to let me tag along as he and Luke run errands. It’s a win-win situation: I get some fresh air, and he gets to use my handicap parking permit.

We made two quick stops for groceries at Aldi and Horrock’s, and then went to Wal-Mart for diapers, pop, and a few other things. Wal-Mart is a big place, too big for me to walk around in, but that’s why they offer fully charged electric scooters at the entrance! I have many times fantasized about riding one of those carts when I feel too tired to shop but then I would thank God that I was healthy enough to not require the use of one. Today I was thanking God that I had an excuse to ride one because it was so much fun! Total mobility at the push of a button. And it beeps when you back up! It was fantastic.

Sadly, that is the most excitement I’ve had all month. Riding the scooter at Wal-Mart. Woo. Hoo.
